Opening day is arriving at Sun Outdoors across the nation! We celebrate the official beginning of the camping season at our Jellystone Parks™ with the annual Wake Up the Bears ceremony. After a long winter, it's time to bring Yogi Bear™ and his friends out of hibernation. Check individual camp-resort websites for 2025 dates.

Our campers come ready to make some noise and wake up Boo Boo™, Cindy Bear™, and Yogi Bear™ from their winter slumber. Plenty of other events also coincide with this annual occasion. Here's a little more about the spring events happening at Jellystone Parks™ across the U.S.

Wake Up Weekend Events in New York

Jellystone Park™ of Western New York kicks off its Wake Up the Bears ceremony with a rather noisy hayride. Guests bring pots and pans to create a ruckus not even a bear could sleep through. The rest of the weekend is chock-full of Cinco de Mayo festivities for the whole family.

Jellystone Park™ at Birchwood Acres will Wake Up the Bears in 2025, followed by Junior Ranger & Scouts Weekend. Obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, and Junior Ranger badges are just a few of the kid-friendly activities taking place.

Jellystone Park™ of Lazy River in Gardiner, New York will wake up the bears next year. Plus, this resort will be holding an Easter Egg hunt, complete with egg painting and the Easter Bunny.

Wake Up Weekend Events in Colorado

There's no doubt that Jellystone Park™ at Larkspur goes all out for its season opener. Happening on Easter Weekend, the fun begins with an early morning rise and shine in 2025. Be sure to bring your pots and pans as you rouse Yogi Bear™ from his rest!

After the wake-up call, the inaugural flag raising will take place. The rest of the day is filled with arts and crafts, candy bar bingo, Easter egg decorating, and an evening hayride. As night falls, the fun continues with a flashlight Easter egg hunt for children 8 and older.

Wake Up Weekend Events in Pennsylvania

About 18 miles south of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, lies Jellystone Park™ of Quarryville. In 2025, resort will wake up the bears and enjoy the first dance party of the season. Plus, you can enjoy laser tag, gaga ball, and the famous jumping pillow.

Wake Up Weekend Deals

Guests at Jellystone Park™ of Luray in Luray, Virginia, can stay one night and get a second night free during Wake Up Weekend. With a location in the heart of Shenandoah National Park, you won't want to miss this deal. Jellystone Park of Maryland™ is offering the same deal for stays near Hagerstown in northern Maryland.

You can also stay one night and get the next night free at Jellystone Park™ at Larkspur, which includes all the fun weekend activities mentioned above in the Wake Up Weekend Events in Colorado.  

If you don't get the chance to join us for this annual tradition in 2024, you can always take part in the festivities next season. We also invite you to join us for the hibernation ceremony in the fall, when we send Yogi Bear™ and his friends off for their seasonal slumber!
