Camp on Lake Ontario at Association Island

Upstate New York Camping Near the 1000 Islands

It's all in the name for the newest member of the Sun RV Resorts family. Sun Outdoors Association Island isn't your traditional campground. It's an entire island in Lake Ontario!

Situated in the Thousand Islands region of New York, about an hour away from the area's popular attractions, Sun Outdoors Association Island offers a unique camping experience. With water on all sides, you can enjoy the nautical life with an on-site marina and boat launch. Or perhaps grab a meal at the Black Catte before renting a kayak and watching the sunset. There's so much to do, and we invite you to join us as we welcome Association Island!

Accommodations and Amenities

More than 65 acres of island grounds are yours to explore at Association Island. Throughout this beautiful setting, you'll find spacious RV sites, many with direct views of Lake Ontario. All sites include full hookups, digital antennas, WiFi, fire pits, and picnic tables. Big rigs are also welcome, as our sites can accommodate RVs up to 65 feet in length.

Additionally, there are many on-site amenities to enjoy. At the heart of the island experience is the private marina, where you'll find a boat launch, kayak rentals, and even the opportunity to embark on a charter fishing excursion. That's not all though. Check out a few more of the beloved amenities:

  • Black Catte café and restaurant ($)
  • Sparkling swimming pool
  • Clubhouse and convenience store ($)
  • Golf cart and boat rentals ($)
  • Basketball, pickleball, and shuffleboard courts
  • And much more!

Attractions Around the 1000 Islands

Association Island is situated in the Thousand Islands region of Upstate New York. Bordering Canada, this region revolves around the St. Lawrence River. Within the immediate area, you'll find opportunities aplenty for fishing, boating, and sailing. Be sure to visit nearby Robert G. Wehle State Park, which has many miles of shoreline and hiking trails.

Head roughly a half hour from the campground and you'll reach Sackets Harbor, a charming town that's home to Old McDonald's Farm. You may also want to stop by Watertown, one of New York's oldest cities with an elegant public square. If you follow the shoreline, you'll find more villages like Cape Vincent, Clayton, and Alexandria Bay.

Great day trip ideas include the famous attractions of the 1000 Islands, located about an hour away from Association Island. This region is home to the iconic Boldt Castle, a historic fairy tale estate open for tours. While you're in the area, visit the Thousand Islands Museum in nearby Clayton to learn more about the region's history, or stop by and unwind at one of the local wineries. And don't miss out on the parks! Wellesley Island State Park, Waterson Point State Park, and Keewaydin State Park are just a few of the many.

Believe it or not, there are still more attractions for you to explore:
