1. Shaw Festival (August-October)

Enjoy world-class theatre by the Shaw Festival, taking place in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This season, the Shaw Festival is producing 14 plays on three stages, as well as a variety of other events and activities. Some highlighted plays include The Magician's Nephew, Grand Hotel, and A Christmas Carol.

2. Peeks Toronto Caribbean Carnival (July 8 - August 12)

For five full weeks throughout the summer, the Peeks Toronto Caribbean Carnival celebrates Caribbean culture with weekly events. The most anticipated event in particular is the Grand Parade, which is held on August 4 along Lakeshore Boulevard. In fact, this spectacle continues to be the largest cultural event of its kind in North America.

3. Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival (August 3-6)

Now going into its 40th year, the Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival takes place in beautiful downtown Port Colborne. With fun activities for the kids, awesome vendors, live music, and great food, the entire family will enjoy this Civic Holiday long weekend. Here's our rundown of what to do at the festival.

 

4. Peach Festival (August 11)

This summer, bring the family to the 28th Annual Peach Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake's Old Town. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can experience live music on Queen St., meet with great vendors, and enjoy delicious peach treats from local bakeries and restaurants.

5. Dundas Cactus Festival (August 17-19)

The Dundas Cactus Festival is a fun, free event throughout the streets of downtown Dundas, Ontario. Featuring live music, a family fun zone, and many street vendors that is sure to make for an exciting weekend for the entire family.

6. Canadian National Exhibition (August 17-September 3)

For 18 fun-filled days leading up to Labour Day, the Canadian National Exhibition is perfect for the entire family. From concerts, to games, great shows, and food, The Ex is an exciting event in the heart of Toronto.

7. The Big Feastival (August 18-20)

Feeling hungry? Head to Oro Medonte to attend The Big Feastival. This magnificent culinary event is packed with things to see, do, and, of course, eat. From street food to culinary classes, there's something for everyone. You'll also get to meet authors, listen to live music, and check out a carnival.

8. Telling Tales - A Family Festival of Stories (September 16)

This fun and interactive story-based festival takes place in Hamilton, Ontario. Here you'll discover tons of books to purchase and many authors and illustrators to meet. Telling Tales is a great opportunity for families to learn while enjoying the whimsical setting of Westfield Heritage Village.

9. Canada Kids Festival (September 22-23)

Near the end of September, the free Canada Kids Festival is an excellent way for families with children to enjoy a day of fun. With exciting activities and meet-and-greets with some of your favourite characters, this festival is a must-visit event.
