Get ready to dig in to some of the tastiest ribs in town! It's summer and that means Ontario Ribfest is returning for another season of weekend festivals.

Beginning in June, Ribfest will take place almost every weekend until September in cities throughout the province. Several of these carnivorous festivals will take place near Sun RV resort locations in Ontario.

But what is a ribfest? Ribfests are family-friendly events dedicated to some of the best rib vendors in the province. Here, grillmasters showcase their talents through weekend competitions. From live entertainment to various foods, beverages, and vendors, each Ribfest is packed with new things to taste and experience.

If you're a rib connoisseur, you'll know exactly what to get when attending a Ribfest. You may even have a favorite vendor. For those who don't know much about ribs or Ribfests, here are a few tips to know when looking for the perfect ribs.

• Pork Ribs vs. Beef Ribs: Pork ribs are the "classic" ribs to purchase at Ribfests, and every rib vendor will sell this type. Compared to beef ribs, pork ribs are lower in price and have smaller bones.
• Type of Wood: Different vendors will smoke and cook their ribs on different types of wood, which influences the flavor of the ribs. Ask the vendor which type of wood is used to smoke and cook their ribs, so you can find your favorite flavor.
• Customize Your Ribs: If you like your ribs extra saucy, don't be afraid to ask for more sauce. Be sure to try out different sauces, depending on your spice tolerance. You can also get your ribs without sauce or cooked extra-long, all depending on your preference.
