When the Texas heat hits, there's only thing to do, head to the lake! Just 20 miles northwest of Austin is Lake Travis, one of the most famous lakes in the state. It also happens to be one of the best summer spots in Texas, known for its sunsets and watersports.
We want you to have the best experience possible during your vacation. That's why we've listed our five favorite things to do on Lake Travis. Being just minutes away from La Hacienda RV Resort, it's sure to be on your itinerary. Have a great lake day and don't forget the sunscreen!
The quintessential Lake Travis activity is taking a boat out on the water. More than 25 boat rental shops exist along the lake, giving you plenty of choices. You can get speedboats, jet-skis, pontoons, and more.
Boat rentals come in two categories. Bareboat rentals don't come with any crew, meaning that you'll need a boating license to operate the vessel yourself. You can also choose a chartered rental. In this scenario, a captain comes with the boat, leaving you free to enjoy the experience.
Situated on the Cypress Creek Arm is Lake Travis Waterloo Adventures. This attraction is a mix of a waterpark and a challenge course, floating on the lake. On the challenge course, you'll have to conquer more than 20 obstacles to make it through. But while on "Adventure Island," you can also enjoy easier activities, such as a trampoline and free fall slide.
Lake Travis Waterloo Adventures is a great family attraction. But do note the restrictions. All guests must be at least seven years old and more than 45 inches tall. Additionally, you need to reserve your visit beforehand, as the attraction provides van and boat transportation.
Neighboring Waterloo Adventures is Lake Travis Zipline Adventures. This attraction is well-known in the area for its five courses soaring along and over the lake. In fact, one of the ziplines is the longest in all of Texas.
Each tour takes you through all the courses and lasts about three hours. You'll need to make reservations and meet the fitness requirements, since it is a thrilling excursion.
Something of a restaurant, an event venue, and an entertainment complex, The Oasis on Lake Travis is a Texas-sized spot to enjoy the state's finest sunsets. The venue sits high on a bluff and features tiered decks looking west over the lake. Each night, the Sunset Bell rings, giving guests a chance to get in position for the famous views.
Inside, you can choose from a variety of restaurants to dine at. You'll also find gift shops, candy shops, and more. Plus, you can enjoy live music indoors at the Starlight Terrace and outside in Beau's Backyard.
We hope you'll consider visiting La Hacienda during your trip to Lake Travis. And if you know someone who might be interested in joining, share this post with them!
