While the north hunkers down as the deep freeze of winter sets in, Floridians are gearing up for their yearly state fair! From February 5-16, 2015 in sunny Tampa, the Florida State Fair promises twelve days of wholesome family fun with a host of activities, entertainment and food that make this such a magical event for festival goers.
This annual funfair began in 1904 as the Southern Florida Fair and offered entertainment that consisted of five betting races and a handful of agricultural exhibits housed in a single building. In 1975, it was renamed as the official Florida State Fair and now attracts up to 500,000 people each year from near and far.
Today, visitors delight in the thrills and chills of carnival rides and enjoy free concerts featuring acts such as Beatlemania Live and the Charlie Daniels Band! See exhibits created by local Florida residents that include agriculture, horticulture, woodworking, needlework and much more.
There is also the Cracker Country historical museum, a turn of the century community with buildings such as a post office, blacksmith, train depot, church, barn and two houses. Other attractions include a Vietnam War Memorial, Jack Russell Terrier races and a number of horse shows for visitors to enjoy.
Convenient accommodations for this event can be found at Tampa East RV Resort, conveniently located less than ten miles from the Florida State Fairgrounds. This luxury resort offers a great selection of RV sites, plus gorgeous one bedroom vacation rentals. Enjoy full access to all of the luxury amenities and a variety of planned activities and clubs to participate in during your stay.
There's always plenty of fun for all ages at the Florida State Fair! Come and experience this timeless tradition for yourself this February.
