Horseshoe Cove is Your Winter Destination

Horseshoe Cove is Your Winter Destination
Horseshoe Cove RV Resort is the Florida hot spot for active fun events this winter. A park with over 470 RV sites must have plenty of action, relaxation, and social gatherings to keep all of the guests and residents happy and healthy. With a twelve acre private island, complete with lagoon, private dock, picnic shelter, and gazebo, campers find a heap of possibilities.

Potlucks and Pancakes

The clubhouse is the place to be for potlucks, dinners and dances. Thanksgiving Dinner is planned for November 27th and leftovers will be put to good use at our turkey soup supper on December 5th. Christmas Dinner will be at 2 p.m. on December 25th. The kitchen will heat up the clubhouse with a Soup Supper of Split Pea and Bean Soups, on Friday January 2nd. Pancake breakfasts will resume on Saturday January 3rd presented by the men's horseshoe group, featuring all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Also in January watch for the pulled pork lunch, Northeast potluck, and the Michigan potluck. Lots of good eating!

Links and Lanes

Work up an appetite food all that good food by joining us in line dancing or water aerobics. Golf is also popular with weekly outings scheduled on Fridays for the men's golf league and the ladies golf group. Horseshoe groups are also active with men and women meeting twice weekly. Join them on Mondays at 9 and Thursdays after the 8 a.m. coffee and donuts. Bowlers meet up at Bradenton Lanes on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. This is open bowling so guests are always welcome. Our heated pool is a great place to get some gentle exercise with water aerobics Monday through Saturday at 9 a.m. Lots of good physical activities!

Crafts and Cards

With a long list of leisure activities at Horseshoe Cove, there is something for everyone, with plenty left over. The ladies sewing sroup meets in the card room on Mondays and Wednesdays. Woodcarvers meet in the clubhouse workshop on Tuesday to create beautiful carvings. The crafts group meets on Tuesdays and Stamp Art meets on Thursdays. Come out on Saturday December 6th for the Christmas Craft Show and Sale. Coffee and home-made coffee cake will also be for sale while you wander the displays shopping for gifts. Of course the clubhouse is also the location for all those requisite card games (euchre, bridge, pinochle, bunco), bingo, movie nights, and dances. You'll have to check the Activities Calendar to keep up with all the fun events, and for additional details.

Christmas News

In addition to the Christmas Craft Show on December 6th, and Christmas Dinner on the 25th (2 p.m.), don't miss the 3-Day Christmas Parade! Yes, it's so big it will be held on December 18th, 20th, and 22nd. Hwy 70 will be closed down (temporarily) as the 50+ decorated carts cross to visit other parks. The local newspaper covers the story with an article and pictures. Get the decorations out of the attic and start planning your golf cart Christmas "float" so you can get in on the parade. Park Manager Ellie Davis invites everyone out to make this the biggest parade ever.

Bradenton Beaches and Bungalows

Many visitors head to Florida's Beaches, even in the winter. Bradenton has an excellent destination for those cool days when the Gulf waters don't seem so inviting. Village of the Arts is a vibrant artists' community established in restored 1920s and 1930s bungalows on Holmes Beach and Anna Maria Island. Visit these studios where artists and artisans live, work, and sell their wares in a string of galleries along the white sand beaches. Quaint cafes are also found in restored bungalows. The weekend of December 5th and 6th would be a great time to visit as they celebrate an Olde Fashioned Village Christmas. Another fun outing that same weekend is The Bradenton Blues Festival on the Riverwalk along the Manatee River on December 6th. You'll hear music from top blues artists such as Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers, and The Florida Blues Brothers. Food from favorite eating haunts like Anna Maria Oyster Bar and Ortygia, a Village of the Arts restaurant featuring Sicilian and Mediterranean cuisine.
