1. John Michael Kohler Arts Center

One of Sheboygan's best attractions is the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. Part museum and part special events center, this venue hosts art collections, exhibitions, and live performances. Plus, the center has promoted street art throughout Sheboygan, giving the town a unique look.

2. Wade House Historic Site

While closed for 2021, the Wade House Historic Site is a gorgeous trove of historical items. Here, you'll see how the world lived before planes, trains, and automobiles. When open, you can tour a carriage house, 19th century inn, and blacksmith shop at this museum.

3. Kettle Moraine Forest

One of the best attractions near Fond du Lac is the Kettle Moraine Forest. This state-managed preserve is divided into northern and southern sections. The northern unit is closest to Fond du Lac East/Kettle Moraine KOA.

In the ancient Kettle Moraine Forest, you'll find the rugged Ice Age Trail, glacial rock formations, and even freshwater beaches. Plus, the forest has mountain bike trails and many acres of prairies and forests. This is a natural space unlike any other in Wisconsin.

4. Hearthstone Historic House Museum

In the city of Appleton lies the Hearthstone Historic House Museum. In 1882, the Hearthstone House became the first private residence to be illuminated by hydroelectricity. This was just two weeks after the original Edison system began operating in New York City!

Today, the Hearthstone Historic House has been restored and converted to a museum. Come take a tour and witness the stunning Victorian architecture.

5. Road America

Plymouth, Wisconsin is home to Road America, one of America's most beloved racetracks. From NASCAR events to advanced driving courses, the parklike setting is ideal for driving. If you're a gearhead, you'll certainly want to visit Road America!

6. EAA Aviation Museum

For more attractions near Fond du Lac, follow the shores of Lake Winnebago north to the neighboring city of Oshkosh. The EAA Aviation Museum lives here, featuring more than 200 historic planes. Guests can get a taste of aviation and engineering history at this unique museum.

7. Whistling Straits Golf Course

Sheboygan doesn't just have the Kohler Arts Center. It's also known for challenging golf courses. The most famous is Whistling Straits, a pair of connected courses designed by the legendary Pete Dye. Both the Straits and the Irish course feature beautiful views of Lake Michigan.

8. Charter Fishing

Fond du Lac East/Kettle Moraine KOA is just 25 miles from Lake Michigan, making it easy to access the water. If you're an angler, you won't want to miss out on the charter fishing opportunities. Try checking out Sea Dog or Silver Dog Fishing Charters in Sheboygan if you want to reel in salmon and trout.
