One of the only RV parks in Dallas, Sandy Lake RV Community is close to all the attractions in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. While in the area, be sure to check out all of the great local attractions and things to do in Dallas, including the city's incredible array of museums!

Old Red Museum

The beautiful Old Red Museum chronicles the history of Dallas, tracing the journey from its humble beginnings to its present-day status as a bustling metroplex. Educational, entertaining and inspiring, the depository houses a collection of videos and artifacts that revisit all the stories and events that made the city notable.

Though the galleries offer a treasure trove of historical objects, the building itself is an architectural masterpiece that's packed with history. Formerly known as the Old Red Courthouse, the building façade is dominated by the telltale clock tower, while the interior features a restored courtroom, an original document vault, and the Grand Staircase, which rises up four stories and seamless blends original sections of the staircase with reconstructed segments.

Sixth Floor Museum

One block from the Old Red Museum, the Sixth Floor Museum is a depository that explores the life, assassination, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. The museum utilizes an audio tour guide that is narrated by Pierre Allman, the first reporter to broadcast from the Texas School Book Depository in 1963.

The museum begins with the social and political events of the 1960s and then moves specifically to cover the days preceding and following Kennedy's assassination. Visitors will have a chance to see the corner of the Sixth Floor where the sniper shot, recreated in painstaking detail based on crime scene photographs.

The Sixth Floor Museum's coverage of JFK's assassination and the following investigations is both fascinating and moving, and is one of the best things to do in Dallas-Fort Worth.
