Quad Cities Museum Week Highlights

In October 2024, museums across the Quad Cities region will come together for this annual event, showcasing a number of gems featuring the history and culture of this area.

Buffalo Bill Museum

A little piece of Americana, the Buffalo Bill Museum is among the best museums within the Quad Cities, featuring the famous frontiersman who was born in LeClaire, Iowa. In addition to Buffalo Bill, the museum details the history of LeClaire and women's fashions of the early 1900s.

A hands-on area is available and caters just to children. Those between the ages of 3 and 8 can tinker with a musical wall, dress up in 1800s clothing, help plant a garden, and participate in a scavenger hunt to receive a free prize!

Buffalo Bill Cody Homestead

The Buffalo Bill Cody Homestead, located in Scott County, Iowa, is also part of the Quad Cities Museum Week. Visit his historic boyhood home, an 1847 farmhouse built by his father, which has been restored and furnished with pieces from this era.

Iowa and German American Heritage Center & Museum

By sea, train, or on foot, the Iowa and German American Heritage Center & Museum gives a fascinating account of how people made the journey from the Old Country to Davenport, Iowa. The museum also touches on the challenges they faced, particularly after World War II.

Exhibits range from the travel experience to the history of German business in Davenport. Local businesses founded by immigrants are highlighted and you can still visit some to this day. For the culinary hounds of the world, a food exhibit showcases Germany's culinary traditions to the U.S.
