Dunedin Highland Games & Festival

Nestled just minutes away from Honeymoon Island in Florida, Dunedin is a quiet Gulf Coast village that boasts a unique event. Many area residents are of Scottish heritage, and aspects of the culture have been preserved, and are celebrated, during the annual Dunedin Highland Games & Festival. The 2018 festival launches with a Hail to the Chieftain kickoff party on March 31 with live music, highland dancing, and a ceremony at the pier at Weaver Park.

The real festivities start on April 7, when the Games begin bright and early on Saturday morning. Competitions will include heavy lifting, weight tossing, a 5K Highland Trail Run, bagpipe playing, and highland dancing, while entertainment will feature traditional Celtic music.

A variety of food and drink will be served, and the day rounds out with the closing ceremonies and a pipe band march in celebration of the winning team. Whether you're a history buff, Scottish sports expert, or simply looking for a great way to spend a Saturday, the Dunedin Highland Games & Festival is an event you won't want to miss!
