Explore the River City in San Antonio!

This month's Destination Discovery highlights San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio is located in the heart of Texas and offers a wide array of activities, attractions, and good eats!

San Antonio is the state's second largest city and is home to one of the oldest Spanish colonization sites in Texas. In 1849, Anglo-Americans gained control of San Antonio in the fighting that gained independence for the Republic of Texas. In 1845, Texas became a part of the United States.

The Alamo & San Antonio Missions
San Antonio is rich in history and culture; in the heart of downtown, you will have the opportunity to tour the Alamo Mission and explore the artifacts of this famous Texas Mission. After you've conquered your study of Davy Crockett and the Texas Revolution, grab a B-Cycle and journey on over to San Antonio Missions National Historical Park to enjoy free guided tours, movies, and educational demonstrations scheduled throughout the week.

Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch
Come up to the shore and make a short drive north to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, located in New Braunfels. Your car will turn into a safari vehicle as you drive through this life-size petting zoo complete with zebras, antelopes, ostriches, and llamas. Southtown

There is no better place to satiate your hunger than in Southtown. Nestled in the King William Historic District, Southtown is packed with diverse restaurants sure to please any palate.

Liberty Bar, located on the corner of S. Alamo Street in a bright pink converted convent, is known for their brunch. If you have a sweet tooth first thing in the morning, you must try the Liberty Bar French Toast, a thick slice of homemade bread that is soaked in custard for 48 hours before egg washed and placed with care on a giant plate. To counter the sweetness, make sure to order their spicy Bloody Mary – a $3 special on Saturdays!

If you are interested in catching a San Antonio Spurs game, join the locals and watch the game on a blowup screen at The Friendly Spot! The Friendly Spot is an outdoor Texas Ice House that features over 250 bottled brews and 76 craft beers on draft.
