Every year, the town of Santa Claus, Indiana, explodes with activity during the holiday season. The town's post office, the only one in the world bearing the Santa Claus name, is the hub of the activity. Over 400,000 letters arrive in December, more than 30 times the usual monthly amount! And affixed on many of those letters is the annual Santa Claus Christmas postmark.
The town recognizes that most letters come from children. To spread the Christmas cheer, Santa Claus creates a Christmas postmark each year that can be used to cancel postage stamps. Individual can come to Santa Claus to hand cancel their holiday mail with the postmark or they can request the postmark be sent by mail.

Another aspect that sets the Santa Claus Christmas postmark apart is that it's not designed by a professional designer. Instead, local high school art students submit their postmark designs and one is chosen each year. For 2019, the postmark comes courtesy of Morgan Vaal, who is now a nursing student at the University of Southern Indiana.
Along with the Christmas postmark, Santa Claus hosts a variety of family-friendly holiday events. Chestnuts are roasted over an open fire and you can enjoy dinner with Santa. And on December 14, the town mobilizes for the festive Santa Claus Parade that's followed by an arts and crafts show.
Staying near Santa Claus is easy. Fitting into the theme of the town, Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph is full of Christmas cheer. And during the month of December, Lake Rudolph offers three weekends of special holiday stays.
Lake Rudolph's Family Christmas Package includes a two-night stay in a Christmas cabin, breakfast with Santa, Rudy Bucks for campsite activities, and two vehicle passes to the Santa Claus Land of Lights. The Land of Lights is a 1.2-mile Christmas light show adventure in the campground. As you drive through in the comfort of your car, your family can see Christmas lights and storyboards!
If you're looking for a great Christmas celebration, Santa Claus is the place to be! And if you can't make it to the festivities, be sure to request a Santa Claus Christmas postmark so you can send your holiday wishes to the big man himself.
