In the sunny southwest is the town of Buckeye, Arizona. Though a western suburb of Phoenix, Buckeye is better known for its outdoor activities. 1. Skyline Regional Park

Topping the list of Buckeye attractions is Skyline Regional Park. This preserve covers more than 8,700 acres of rugged mountain landscape and features numerous trails. Hikers will find paths ranging from easy to difficult. There are also trails for mountain biking and horseback riding. Best of all, leashed dogs are permitted.

2. White Tank Mountain Regional Park

There are many things to do in Buckeye that revolve around the outdoors. A favorite attraction for locals is White Tank Mountain Regional Park. Visitors will enjoy almost 30,000 acres of ridges, valleys, and canyons to explore. Trails and rough roads wind their way through the mountains, giving hikers and bikers great ways to explore the White Tank Mountains.

3. Wildlife World Zoo

Nestled in nearby Litchfield Park is Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium, & Safari Park. Here you'll find Arizona's largest collection of exotic and endangered animals. Stroll through and see 600 species, animal-inspired rides, and a kid-friendly petting zoo as you explore Wildlife World.

4. The Wigwam Golf Courses

Fore! Hit the green and practice your swing at The Wigwam. This golf resort has three incredible courses to play:

  • Gold Course: One of America's most challenging courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Par 72 – 7,345 yards.
  • Blue Course: A challenging, but reasonable course with small, elevated greens. Par 70 – 6,000 yards.
  • Red Course: A traditional layout with a tricky set of final four holes. Par 72 – 6,852.

Both locals and visitors from far and wide visit The Wigwam to play its challenging courses. Without a doubt, it's one of the best Buckeye attractions.

5. Gillespie Dam Bridge and Petroglyphs

For history buffs, the Gillespie Dam Bridge is a fascinating spot. While the bridge is a part of engineering history, there are also ancient petroglyphs down by the dam. The bridge features parking, a rotunda, and signs recounting the history of the bridge.

6. Estrella Mountain Regional Park

Sitting east of Buckeye is Estrella Mountain Regional Park, a massive preserve featuring wetlands, mountains, and deserts. Numerous trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding wind their way through the park. There are also spots for fishing on the Gila River, and several picnic ramadas in the park.
