Top Attractions for Arizona Snowbirds

The holidays are over, but snowbird season is just beginning. This time of year, thousands of RVers head south and west to find sunshine and warmer weather. For those snowbirds in Arizona, we've rounded up seven of the best attractions.

These things to do in Arizona are situated around the urban centers of Phoenix and Tucson. Each attraction is also within easy access of our Arizona resorts. Check out the list and start planning a trip today!

Saguaro National Park

Things to Do for Arizona Snowbirds

1. Saguaro National Park

Tucson, AZ

Towering cacti are the name of the game at Saguaro National Park. The protected giant saguaro cactus is rare and this is one of the only places to spot it. Hiking is the best way to experience Saguaro National Park. We recommend the 3-mile Sendero Esperanza Trail to the Ridge for stunning views.

Check out other trails here.

Desert Botanical Garden

2. Desert Botanical Garden

Phoenix, AZ

Perhaps the finest display of flora in the Southwest, the Desert Botanical Garden is full of unique plant life. Numerous trails exist to take you through wildflowers and past mountains. While visiting, pick up a souvenir from the Garden Shop and grab a bite from one of the cafés.

Musical Instruments Museum

3. Musical Instrument Museum

Phoenix, AZ

The Musical Instrument Museum is the only one of its kind in the world. Over 200 countries are represented in the 7,000 instruments on display. Additionally, the MIM hosts an array of concerts and events, offering cultural attractions for Arizona snowbirds. See the schedule to find something that piques your interest!

Rhino At Phoenix Zoo

4. Phoenix Zoo

Sitting next to the Desert Botanical Garden is the Phoenix Zoo. This attraction has grown to become one of the best zoos in the nation. From elephants in the tropics to native Arizona wildlife, there's plenty to see. Bonus, this is one of the best spots to take visiting friends and family.

Old Town Scottsdale Sign

5. Old Town Scottsdale

Scottsdale, AZ

Neighbor to Phoenix, Scottsdale features a lively walkable downtown. The experience is centered around Old Town Scottsdale, which features endless shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars. The experience extends to the revitalized waterfront, which features excellent canal-side trails. For Arizona snowbirds, Old Town Scottsdale is the ideal place to shop and relax.

South Mountain Park And Preserve

6. South Mountain Park and Preserve

Phoenix, AZ

More than 16,000 acres are yours to explore at South Mountain Park and Preserve. This massive space spans three mountain ranges and offers scenic drives and bike rides on its roads. If you head off the road, you can enjoy over 51 miles of desert trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. For outdoorsy folks, South Mountain Park can't be beat!

Arizona Sonora Desert Museum

7. Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Tucson, AZ

It may call itself a museum, but the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is more like a living landscape. In one visit, you can see a zoo, aquarium, natural history museum, botanical garden, and art gallery. In total, the museum has more than 15 sections ripe for discovery. Additionally, the museum is designed for all ages, offering accessibility for senior snowbirds and families with young children.
