Living The Good Life: Brian and Erica Johnston

This summer marks 41 years at Sun Retreats Sherkston Shores for Brian and Erica Johnston of Hamilton, Ontario. The couple, now married for 59 years, have made wonderful memories over the past four decades. Though much has changed for Brian and Erica, one thing continues to stay the same — their beloved getaway spot at Sherkston Shores.

From Portable to Permanent

Now retired, Brian and Erica have always loved spending their summer months at Sherkston Shores. In the beginning, the couple would bring a travel trailer to the resort every summer.

Today, Brian and Erica have upgraded to a vacation cottage near the Quarry. Here, they spend many evenings watching the fireworks burst over the water.

Year After Year

The Johnstons are drawn to Sherkston Shores every year by the strong sense of community and friendship. Their three boys loved bringing their friends along to show off the waterslides and participate in all of the programs offered for families and kids.

Now, their sons are grown and living on their own, but they still enjoy coming  to visit their parents at Sherkston Shores. Each year, they recount stories from the past and make new memories for the future.

A Paradise Within Reach

The convenience that comes with spending each summer at the resort is a major benefit. Brian and Erica need only drive an hour from their home to enjoy beautiful summer days on the water.

The Johnstons love Sherkston's large property on Lake Erie as well as its long list of amenities. From swimming at the beach to participating in planned activities and events, it's always fun here.

Memories That Continue to be Made

Brian and Erica have fond memories of the resort in its younger days. They recount glowing summer memories such as visiting Gulliver's sand sculptures on the beach and enjoying social nights by the fire with drinks at Rafters.

The Johnstons can also recall the winter fun they've had at Sherkston Shores. From skating on Turtle Pond to cross-country skiing during winter months, they look forward to continuing to make memories every season at the resort.

When asked what the best part of spending the summer at Sherkston Shores, the couple summed it up nicely by saying, "Just being here!"

Aside from the great fun that comes with calling Sherkston Shores their summer home, Brian and Erica appreciate the many friendships created during the last 41 years. And they look forward to continuing to call it their second home for many years to come.
