Things to Do on Your Connecticut Vacation

Home to attractions and entertainment you can't find anywhere else, Connecticut is a great destination for families and couples. This historic state has miles of beautiful coastline along the Atlantic and is addition to your list of states to visit.

How to Spend a Week in Connecticut

At least once a year, most folks tend to go on a longer vacation that lasts about a week. We have some great suggestions on how to make the most of your Connecticut vacation.

Connecticut Shoreline

No vacation guide to Connecticut would be complete without mentioning the state's stunning coast. Regardless of the time year, you'll be treated to miles of scenic beauty.

If you want to experience everything Connecticut's coast has to offer, Ocean Beach Park is one of the best spots to visit. This popular park has a boardwalk, mini golf, playground, and much more. It's just one of the many places to visit along the coast.

Mystic Seaport Museum

Connecticut's beaches aren't the only seaside attraction worthy of your time. Next on the list is Mystic Seaport, one of the nation's oldest and best maritime museums. Spend a day exploring thousands of artifacts and more than 500 historic watercraft, which includes the Charles W. Morgan.

This vessel is one of the oldest known American ships in existence, as well as the world's last wooden whaleship. The sprawling museum grounds might as well be a small city, boasting 19 acres to explore. Take your time and take it all in.

Ford's Lobster Restaurant in Connecticut

Ford's Lobster

Nothing beats fresh lobster on the coast, and Ford's Lobster is the place to get it. This no-fuss seaside restaurant offers takeout and first-come, first-served outdoor dining with a BYOB policy. Open year-round, Ford's Lobster is a must-visit on your Connecticut getaway.

The winery specializes in Chardonnay, Riesling, and Cabernet Franc. Tastings are reasonably priced and includes a tasting glass to take home as a keepsake. Food is encouraged so bring your own snacks or a meal for your group. This venue also hosts special events throughout the year, so check the events page before your visit.

Mohegan Sun

Just south of Norwich on the Thames River is Mohegan Sun, an incredibly popular area casino. Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, Mohegan Sun has plenty of entertainment and dining options for the whole family to enjoy.

There's the Kids Quest game room and indoor go-kart for the kids, and the adults can hit the links at the on-site golf course. You can also dine out at selection of restaurants, like the newly opened Toa Asian Bistro & Lounge at Mohegan Sun.
