Rich with American heritage, the Boston area is chock full of nearly four centuries of history showcased in many landmarks that tell the tale of our early days as a nation; and all within a two-hour drive of the RV resorts and campgrounds included in our New England region. A great place to start an adventure in Boston is with the Freedom Trail®, a 2.5-mile, a red-lined route that leads you to 16 historically significant sights. Take a guided tour led by 18th-century costumed Freedom Trail Players® that starts at the Boston Common and make your way to featured sites like the Paul Revere House, Old North Church, and the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, a grouping of four buildings where historic figures like Samuel Adams and Jonathan Mayhew stood on their soapboxes, planting the seeds that would eventually lead to the American Revolution.
While you're here, don't forget to visit the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum and witness reenactments of the famous event that changed the course of our nation's history forever! Enjoy historic interpreters, interactive exhibits, fully restored 18th-century sailing vessels, historic artifacts and more.
Still, one of the most popular vacation hot spots on the East Coast, the Cape Cod Region consists of Cape Cod and the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. This area is famous for its incredible scenic beauty of sandy beaches with gently rolling dunes, legendary seafood delights, world-class golfing, whale watching and so much more!
A 45-minute ferry ride takes you "on island" to Martha's Vineyard, where you can take in the sights and visit its many harbor towns, lighthouses and beaches. Explore Oak Bluffs, where you can go for the brass ring at the Flying Horses, the oldest carousel in the world, or stop by the charming and brightly painted Gingerbread Cottages, which were collectively declared a Historic National Landmark back in 1978. You can also pay your respects to the gravesite of beloved comedian John Belushi, buried in Abel's Hill Cemetery after his untimely death in 1982.
On Nantucket Island you can leave the modern world behind and enter a charming area that looks like it came straight out of a postcard. Built on the profits of the whale oil industry, Nantucket was once one of the richest places in America and is known for its signature unpainted cedar-shingled buildings and cobblestone streets with high-end boutique shopping, restaurants, and steeple churches.
Stay at Sun Retreats Peters Pond or Sun Retreats Dennis Port, two premier RV resorts situated right on "mainland" Cape Cod, for a central location close to everything that makes this area such a desirable vacation destination!

Morgan, the last wooden whaling ship and visit America's foremost maritime museum with the most extensive collection of boats in the U.S. at Mystic Seaport or stop by the only steam-powered cider mill in the U.S. at B.F. Clyde's Cider Mill.
This area is also known for its culinary delights with a bounty of some of the freshest seafood you'll ever taste! Make sure you check out famous digs dishing out deliciousness like Mystic Pizza, made famous by the popular 1988 film titled after its namesake, or the birthplace of the hamburger at Louis' Lunch in nearby New Haven.
