Explore Atlantic City on Your New Jersey Vacation

Come visit Atlantic City in the heart of the Jersey Shore, a premiere summer destination on the East Coast. This glitzy city is filled with high-rise hotels and shopping malls along miles of beaches and boardwalk.

Since the area is filled with seemingly endless attractions, we're featuring a few of our favorite things to do in Atlantic City. Keep reading for our recommendations to help plan your trip!

8 Fun Things to Do in Atlantic City

1. Atlantic City Casinos

You can't talk about Atlantic City without mentioning the famous casinos. This coastal resort town gained its fame with upscale hotels and casinos on the ocean. There are many to visit, each offering unique atmospheres with a variety of restaurants, and entertainment.

Here are a few of our favorite casinos in Atlantic City:

2. Shopping

While the casinos are popular, there is also amazing shopping centers to visit. The Tanger Outlets have an incredible collection of stores in the heart of downtown that offer deep discounts on brands like Nike, COACH, and Levi's.

You can also check out The Quarter at Tropicana, a shopping mall built into the casino of the same name. And for outdoorspeople, the sizable Bass Pro Outpost has everything you need for your next fishing, hunting, or hiking adventure.

Atlantic City Boardwalk

3. Atlantic City Boardwalk

One of the best things to do in Atlantic City is to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the world's longest boardwalk. You can stroll this buzzing strip lined with fry stands, ice cream shops, mini golf courses, arcades, and more. Plus, there are many events along the boardwalk, including live jazz music, outdoor movies, and parades.

4. Kennedy Plaza

Speaking of the boardwalk, the most popular entertainment venue along the shore is Kennedy Plaza. A historic and elegant space, Kennedy Plaza also serves as a memorial to the 35th president of the U.S. This is also a great spot for finding some shade and relaxing by the beach.

Absecon Lighthouse Atlantic City New Jersey

5. Absecon Lighthouse

At 171 feet tall, Absecon Lighthouse is one of the tallest lights in America. While the city has grown around it, Absecon Lighthouse still stands as a part of a park and museum. Visitors can climb 228 steps to the top for panoramic views of the city and ocean. Without a doubt, Absecon Lighthouse is one of the best things to do in Atlantic City.

6. Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Ok sure, it's a typical tourist attraction. But Ripley's Believe It or Not! is also a fantastic, family-friendly destination. This museum is full of wacky, weird finds that you have to see to believe… or not!

Ferris Wheel at Steel Pier Amusement Park in Atlantic City New Jersey

7. Steel Pier Amusement Park

One of the many great attractions in Atlantic City is the Steel Pier Amusement Park. This is a classic East Coast attraction full of rides, food stalls, and carnival games. There's plenty to do and we highly recommend riding the Ferris wheel for one-of-a-kind views of Atlantic City.

8. New Jersey Korean War Memorial

Rounding out our list is the New Jersey Korean War Memorial. This sobering, steadfast park honors those who served our country in the Korean War. You'll find the memorial along the boardwalk, next to Brighton Park.

We hope you've enjoyed these ideas for things to do in Atlantic City. Next time you're in the area, perhaps at Shady Pines MH & RV Resort or Driftwood RV Resort & Campground, take a day trip to Atlantic City. You won't be disappointed!
