With summer in swing, many are antsy to spend some time away from home. And while vacations may be a bit unusual this year, they are still very possible. Especially camping! That's precisely why we've rounded up a few Jersey Shore activities that you can enjoy during your camping vacation.
We hope you love these recommendations and remember to stay safe and enjoy your vacation!
One of the best things about Cape May is its beautiful architecture. The town gained popularity in the Victorian period, sparking the construction of ornate Victorian homes. Luckily, many of these homes have been preserved for the present day.
A great way to enjoy the homes is simply to walk through the neighborhoods. This gives you plenty of time outside, while still seeing the stately architecture. Plus, you can pop by the beach afterward and enjoy the Jersey Shore.
Even more outdoor open space can be found at Cape May Point State Park. Anchoring the park is the 157-foot-high lighthouse. The monument is more than 150 years old and stands as a proud icon of the coastal town.
The park's natural area is also a great place for hiking. Several blazed trails run through coastal dunes, marshes, and forests, and are easy in intensity. Along with the foliage and sea, you'll spot plenty of birds. In fact, this natural area is considered one of the best birding destinations in North America!
Along with the natural amenities, Cape May Point has multiple picnic areas along the Jersey Shore. These range from covered shelters to basic tables. Pack picnic lunches for the family and enjoy some time in the open air.
Located a few miles north in Cape May Court House is Sun Retreats Avalon. With a blend of wilderness and modern amenities, This RV resort is ideal for families. It has its very own lake for fishing and kayaking, a mini golf course, and volleyball, bocce ball, and shuffleboard courts.
Check with the resort about which amenities are open before you visit.
Looking to vacation a little closer to New York? Long Beach Island may be just right for you. Though less bustling than usual, Long Beach still has plenty to do.
At the north end of the island, you'll find Barnegat Lighthouse State Park. This quiet retreat boasts clear views, gentle sand dunes, and even some coastal forest trails. Plus, you can fish, picnic, and grab a snapshot of the namesake lighthouse.
Situated on the mainland just 10 miles from incredible beaches, Sun Retreats Long Beach Island gives guests easy access to the Jersey Shore. With RV sites, tent sites, and cabin rentals, it's easy to stay in comfort. And plenty of amenities also await you, including nature trails, a mini golf course, a dog park, and more. A vacation at Long Beach is a vacation you won't forget!
With ample outdoor activities and comfortable places to stay, the Jersey Shore is ideal for your summer vacation. Share this post with your fellow campers and get ready for a great trip!
