Towering cacti are the name of the game at Saguaro National Park. The protected giant saguaro cactus is rare and this is one of the only places to spot it. Hiking is the best way to experience Saguaro National Park. We recommend the 3-mile Sendero Esperanza Trail to the Ridge for stunning views.

Perhaps the finest display of flora in the Southwest, the Desert Botanical Garden is full of unique plant life. Numerous trails exist to take you through wildflowers and past mountains. While visiting, pick up a souvenir from the Garden Shop and grab a bite from one of the cafés.

Neighbor to Phoenix, Scottsdale features a lively walkable downtown. The experience is centered around Old Town Scottsdale, which features endless shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars. The experience extends to the revitalized waterfront, which features excellent canal-side trails. For Arizona snowbirds, Old Town Scottsdale is the ideal place to shop and relax.
Phoenix, AZ
More than 16,000 acres are yours to explore at South Mountain Park and Preserve. This massive space spans three mountain ranges and offers scenic drives and bike rides on its roads. If you head off the road, you can enjoy over 51 miles of desert trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. For outdoorsy folks, South Mountain Park can't be beat!
Tucson, AZ
It may call itself a museum, but the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is more like a living landscape. In one visit, you can see a zoo, aquarium, natural history museum, botanical garden, and art gallery. In total, the museum has more than 15 sections ripe for discovery. Additionally, the museum is designed for all ages, offering accessibility for senior snowbirds and families with young children.
