5 Camping Destinations for the End of Summer

1. Blue Ridge Mountains

North Carolina

A land of rugged hills and age-old forests, the Blue Ridge Mountains are one of America's natural treasures. On the North Carolina side, we recommend taking the Blue Ridge Parkway up to Mount Mitchell, the highest point east of the Mississippi River. A few other area attractions include:

Fort Tatham RV Resort & Campground offers a great place to stay in Sylva, North Carolina. The accommodations at Fort Tatham include RV sites, tent sites, and vacation rentals, making it a great camping destination. Plus, the town of Sylva has a charming Main Street filled with quirky shops and eateries.

2. Quad Cities

Iowa and Illinois

High on the banks of the Mississippi River are four cities, two in Iowa and two in Illinois. On the western Iowa side, you have Davenport and Bettendorf. On the eastern Illinois side, Rock Island and Moline. Known as the Quad Cities, this Midwestern hub has numerous things to do:

Tucked east of the Quad Cities is Sunset Lakes RV Resort. Beloved by families, Sunset Lakes features a huge outdoor pool, tennis courts, miniature golf, a dog park, and much more. You can also rent canoes and paddle boats to spend time on the water.

3. Cape Cod

Massachusetts

Cape Cod ranks high among the best camping destinations, especially in late summer. An iconic attraction is Cape Cod National Seashore, which features 40 miles of beaches, including popular Race Point Beach. There are also sand dunes, salt marshes, and numerous hiking paths.

Here are some other ideas for spending time in Cape Cod:

An ideal place to stay is at Cape Cod RV Resort in East Falmouth, Massachusetts. During your stay, you'll find 55 acres of pine forest with RV sites, tent sites, and cabin rentals. 4. Old Orchard Beach

Maine

If you're in search of laidback vibes and fine folks, head to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. This seaside town, locally known as OOB, features The Pier on the Atlantic Ocean, offering restaurants, comedy clubs, bars, and scenic views. It's also home to to family-friendly entertainment like Palace Playland, a beachfront amusement park. What's more, there are two nearby water parks, Aquaboggan and Funtown Splashtown USA.
