Easy St. Patrick's Day Recipe: Shamrock Bites

"When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, sure 'tis like a morn in spring. In the lilt of Irish laughter, you can hear the angels sing. When Irish hearts are happy, all the world seems bright and gay, And When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, sure, they steal your heart away."

St. Patty's Day Shamrock Bites

Recipe makes about 20 bites

Grocery List:

  • 1 bag of green chocolate candies - try looking for mint, spring, or even Christmas themed bags. They are likely to have the most "green" candies.
  • 1 bag of dark chocolate kisses.
  • 1 bag of mini pretzels.
  • 1 tube of green icing, piping gel, or green candy melts.

How It's Done:

 Shamrock Pretzel Bites
Step One:
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Grab your baking sheet and line with parchment paper.
Step Two:
Place your mini pretzels equidistant across the paper and place an unwrapped dark chocolate kiss on top of each pretzel.
Step Three:
Pop your pretzels and chocolate in the oven for about eight minutes. You'll want to make sure the chocolate kisses keep their shape, so don't leave them in the oven too long! While the treats are baking, separate your green chocolate candies from any other colors you might have to make the next steps quick and simple.
Step Four:
Once warm, remove your pretzels and chocolate from the oven. Take your first green candy and place on the center of the kiss. Gently push the candy onto the chocolate until it is placed where you want it! Repeat with the next two chocolates. Quick tip: If you are really going for the shamrock shape, make sure you have the two rounded ends of the pretzel facing toward you. The holes in the pretzel will work as a guide to help place your green candies in the right spot!
Step Five:
Allow the treats to cool completely - about 10  minutes - before adding your "stems."
Step Six:
Once the treats are cooled, grab your gel, icing, or candy melts and add little stems to complete the shamrock!
