1. Font Coffee Bar

Fonthill, Ontario

Want to sip while you shop at the Pelham Farmer's Market? Head to Font Coffee Bar first. Settled on Highway 20, this cafe has become a staple for local coffee in Fonthill, Ontario. Along with the coffee and cozy atmosphere, Font also sources its baked goods from local producers.

2. Mahtay Café

St. Catharines, Ontario

Nestled in downtown St. Catharines, Mahtay Café is one of the best coffee shops in Niagara. It's well-known for its traditional yerba mate tea. The inside is filled with art, couches, and chairs, and is perfect for reading. Additionally, the menu is extensive and caters to those with dietary restrictions.

3. Balzac's Coffee Roasters

Port Dalhousie and Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

A regional roaster, Balzac's Coffee Roasters has two coffee shops in Niagara. The Port Dalhousie location is in northeast St. Catharines, just steps away from the beach on Lake Ontario. There's also a second location in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Situated in the historic downtown, this charming café is close to the waterfront. It's also great for grabbing a coffee before enjoying a theater production at the famous Shaw Festival.

4. Green Apple Coffee House

Port Colborne, Ontario

Fun fact: Green Apple Coffee House was the first Fair Trade Organic café in Port Colborne. It also has a prime location on the Welland Canal. For a relaxing day, grab a coffee and a dessert and watch the boats go by on the water.

Welland, Ontario

One of the most beloved coffee shops in Niagara is The Black Sheep Lounge. The focus at this bohemian hangout is art. Indeed, proceeds from the shop go to support local artists. As such, The Black Sheep frequently hosts concerts, art exhibitions, and other creative events.

Of course, the art isn't the only thing drawing customers. The Black Sheep is also a favorite in Welland thanks to its locally-sourced ingredients. Grab a coffee and a sandwich, salad, or breakfast for a great combination.
