7 Reasons to Visit Myrtle Beach This Fall

Get ready to embrace the autumn season (and all things pumpkin) when you head to Myrtle Beach this fall. This fun beach town boasts plenty of reasons to visit and we're sharing our top seven favorites.

It's time to break down why fall is one of the best times to experience Myrtle Beach at our South Carolina resort.

Enjoy Your Fall Trip at Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach

Location, location, location is what it's all about when you stay with us at Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach. We're situated along the Atlantic coast, providing amazing accommodations and amenities that are sure to take your autumn getaway to the next level.

Park your RV on a spacious full hookup site or take your stay in a charming cottage rental. You'll also have access to an array of incredible resort-style amenities. Or enjoy an easy escape to the beach just minutes away while taking in the serene and scenic settings that surround you.

With a winning combination an upscale resort and seemingly endless nearby attractions, it's time to dive into our seven favorite reason to visit us this fall.

1. Plan Your Next Couples Trip

While the school year is officially in session, our Myrtle Beach resort is a great place for a couple's getaway. The pools aren't packed, and things tend to be a little more laid-back around here during the fall season. Take in the atmosphere during a stroll of our beautiful grounds or enjoy a date night at Lowcountry Landing – Myrtle Beach Bistro.

2. Did Somebody Say S'mores?

There's nothing better than s'mores around a campfire. Our resort has an amazing s'mores bar each week during the month of October. It's so much more than just graham crackers, chocolate bars, and marshmallows. You'll have to see it to believe all the different creative sweet combinations.

3. Save Money

Skip the peak prices of the summer season. Autumn presents some of the best deals of the year at Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach. Make sure to check available special offers like our 30% Score Fall Savings, which can be applied toward new reservations for RV sites and Carolina Cottages.

4. Endless Resort Activities

Our resort offers quite the variety of on-site activities. Ride the three-story tall water slides at Carolina Splash Water Park or float down our heated lazy river. Check out Red Fox Arcade for the perfect spot to play games or enjoy some relaxation at the adults-only swimming pool. You can also take part in other activities that include favorites like miniature golf, yoga, line dancing, trivia, water Zumba, and fishing.

Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach Oktoberfest

Experience one of our biggest events of the fall season on Saturday, October 7 at our very own Oktoberfest! This is our fifth year hosting this fun and festive event, which features a wonderful selection of local and regional brews to sample along with great menu of tasty eats:

  • ($10) Sausage topped with sauerkraut or pepper and onions, plus German-style potato salad
  • ($5) Warm soft pretzel with housemade beer cheese
  • ($10) Bowl of housemade beef chili with a warm baked roll

5. Take Advantage of Good Weather

The temps may be falling where you live, but during the fall season in South Carolina the weather is still warm enough to visit the beach. Our complimentary shuttle makes stops at the public beach five days a week through the month of September. Starting in October, this free shuttle service will take guests to various other points of interest around the Myrtle Beach area.

6. Local Fall Activities

If you're looking to explore outside the resort, head to Thompson Farm and Nursery. Dubbed the "official fall festival headquarters," this farm is a must-see attraction. Get lost in the six-and-a-half-acre corn maze that features a new design every year. You can also meet the animals on the farm and check out more than 20 fall activities. Don't forget to stop over by Norma's Play Area to experience everything from jump pads to duck races.

Another great spot you won't want to miss is the Cabana Pumpkin Patch & Market. Starting in October and running all month long, this charming market offers a ton of fall activities for every age. Pumpkin painting? Corn pit? Hay maze? Check, check, and check.

The spooky Myrtle Beach Ghosts, Pirates & Historic Families trolley tour showcases local stories of ghosts, pirates, and wealthy local families. Guests board for a two-hour trolley tour that starts in Myrtle Beach and takes you beyond the fishing town of Murrells Inlet before heading back. The tour is held every Thursday from 10 a.m. till noon.

Calling all foodies! Taste your way through some of the top cuisines from Myrtle Beach's renowned restaurants during the Fall Taste of the Market Common. The highly anticipated annual event returns to The Market Common Retail Center on Saturday, October 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event. Don't forget to vote for your favorites as you sample appetizers, main courses, and desserts.

7. Check Out These Fall Festivals

There's no shortage of festivals and fall events in Myrtle Beach. If you're in town the weekend of October 7, visit Brookgreen's Annual Harvest Home Weekend Festival. Offering everything from pumpkin decorating to scarecrow making, you're bound to have fun. Kiddos can also check out the hay maze, too. Hungry? Don't forget to stop by one of the local food vendors to grab a quick bite.

The third annual Oktoberfest! at Barefoot Landing is also returning on Saturday, October 7. Guests can make their way through some of their favorite Barefoot restaurants and indulge in German-inspired dishes and drinks. Some restaurants will feature live music and there's even a costume contest for your furry friend later in the afternoon. Proceeds from the event benefit the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach.

The Irish Italian International Festival is hosting its 19th annual event on Saturday, September 30. This rain or shine event celebrates both cultures with arts and crafts vendors, live music, and even a spaghetti eating contest. Make sure to take advantage of our free shuttle service as your transportation to and from this event.
