But enough chit-chat though. Let's get to the good stuff and review the best Gulf Shores golf courses.
Topping the list of public golf courses in Gulf Shores, and Alabama as a whole, is Kiva Dunes Golf Course. Pairing natural dunes with scrub oak and tricky sand traps, Kiva Dunes is a perfect coastal course.
When you play here, be careful not to underestimate it. While it looks peaceful enough, this course is actually quite challenging, especially around the water traps. That said, it's not so difficult that you won't enjoy playing. Instead, you'll test your skills while playing on a beautiful greens.
Peninsula Golf and Raquet Club is a combination of three nine-hole courses – Marsh, Lakes, and Cypress. The club is situated on the Fort Morgan peninsula, a verdant spot next to the Bon Secour Wildlife Preserve. Indeed, you may see a fair bit of wildlife during play that can include alligators and eagles.
In addition to the 27-hole golf course, Peninsula is a full-service club with a restaurant, bar, tennis courts, and more. Enjoy the day and be sure to snap a photo amid the beautiful Gulf Shores scenery.
Ranking high among Gulf Shores golf courses is Rock Creek Golf Club. Stretching 18 holes over nearly 7,000 yards, this is a course that's great for long shots. The elevation changes significantly and tall trees provide an extra challenge. You won't want to miss this top-rated course, which is well worth the scenic drive up the coast to Fairhope.
We realize this golf course isn't actually in Gulf Shores. But it's worth the 30-minute drive across the Florida state line to visit Perdido Bay Golf Course. For 10 years, the Pensacola Open was hosted here, and today, the public can also play on this championship golf course. The fairways are quite open and offer enough challenge to keep things interesting.
