The sparkling coast of Maine and crisp autumn air is ready to welcome you. The nation's most northeastern state is home to numerous historic towns, quaint shops and cafes, and the world's best lobster. While there is plenty to enjoy near our resorts, if you are up for a day adventure, check out some of our favorite spots to explore.
Portland Old Port
This historic waterfront district boasts cobblestone streets, historic buildings and fishing piers. Commercial Street also offers local boutiques, award-winning restaurants, and nightlife. In the fall you can take advantage of haunted walking tours through Wicked Walking Tours, foliage cruises through the Casco Bay Lines ferry or scenic train rides with Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. While you take in the waterfront views you can enjoy the changing color of leaves that line the shore. Don't forget to stop at The Holy Donut to top your day off with seasonal fall favorite treats!
Just a few miles from the Old Port, lies the most photographed lighthouse in the U.S. the Portland Head Light. You can enjoy breathtaking ocean views and scenic walking paths. There's ample parking and if you work up an appetite you can stop by one of the delish food trucks! On the way there, there are also two famous lighthouses, Bug Light and Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse you won't want to miss.
Nearby Attractions to Visit
Fall in Maine offers the perfect time to visit your favorite pumpkin patch or apple orchard. Some of our favorites nearby include Giles Family Farm, McDougal Orchards and Spiller Farm. You can stroll through each location and find pumpkins or pick your own apples while taking in the crisp autumn air. Maine also has plenty of craft breweries to enjoy and explore. End your day at favorites like Barreled Souls Brewing, Lone Pine Brewing Company and Odd by Nature Brewing Company.
Ready to explore more? Head over to Kennebunkport where you'll find Dock Square, home to local boutiques, restaurants and art galleries. You'll want to make a pit stop at Goose Rocks Beach to take in the white sand and gorgeous seaside views. Kennebunkport in the fall is also a great time to take a stroll down Summer Street where many establishments get decked out for Halloween!
