Refreshing Fruit Slush Recipes to Beat the Heat

When the summer heat strikes, it can be tempting stay inside with the air conditioning. But going outside becomes much more bearable with a cold drink in hand. This summer, stay cool with three delicious fruit slush recipes.

Made with fresh fruit and juices, these slushies are great alternatives to soda and offer a healthy option no matter where you're vacationing. Keep reading and bookmark this page to save these recipes for later!

3 Fruit Slush Recipes for Summer

1. Watermelon Slush

Delightfully simple, this watermelon slush recipe is made without any frozen juice concentrates. Since watermelon has so much natural liquid, no added juice is necessary. Additionally, this recipe can be made without any added sugar if desired.

Recipe borrowed from More With Less Today.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh watermelon, preferably seedless
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
Directions
  1. Cut the watermelon into small pieces.
  2. Freeze the watermelon pieces for an iced watermelon slush (optional).
  3. Add frozen watermelon, lime juice, and sugar into a blender.
  4. Blend on high until smooth.
Peach Slush Recipe

2. Peach Slush

Like the previous recipe, this peach slush recipe is made with fresh fruit, rather than juice concentrates. You will need to do a little more work for this recipe, though, as peaches can't be thrown straight into the blender like watermelon. In the end, however, the results are well worth the effort!

Recipe borrowed from The Idea Room.

Ingredients

  • 2 fresh peaches
  • 1/8 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
Directions
  1. Peel peaches either with a paring knife or by blanching the peaches in boiling water for 30 seconds.
  2. Chop peaches into chunks and put in a blender.
  3. Add water and lime juice and blend until smooth.
  4. Pour peach puree into a 9x13 pan and freeze for one to two hours, stirring several times so the mixture does not freeze in a solid block.
  5. When frozen, stir and whip with a fork for a slushy consistency. Serve immediately.
Sunrise Fruit Slush Recipe

3. Sunrise Slush

For a taste of the tropics, try this sunrise slush recipe. Made with orange, lemon, and pineapple juices, this recipe is for a large batch of 20-24 servings. That makes it great for parties, but for a smaller batch, be sure to scale down the ratios. Also note that this recipe requires overnight freezing time.

Additionally, if only adults are partaking, you can add an ounce of vodka or rum to each glass for a frozen cocktail. This is a great way to beat the summer heat!

Recipe borrowed from Northern Yum.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups water
  • 4 cups sugar (or less, if preferred)
  • 2 cans frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 1 can frozen lemonade
  • 46 ounces pineapple juice
  • 2 liters lemon-lime soda, such as Sprite or 7-Up
  • Vodka or rum, for frozen cocktails (optional)
Directions
  1. In a large pot, bring the water and sugar to a boil.
  2. Remove from the heat and add the frozen orange juice concentrate, frozen lemonade, and pineapple juice to the mixture. Stir well.
  3. Freeze the mixture in a large container, such as an ice cream bucket, for at least 8 hours, stirring several times if possible. You can use multiple containers if one is not large enough.
  4. When ready to serve, use an ice cream scoop to add one or two scoops to a glass. Pour lemon-lime soda to the top of glass or leave room to add one ounce of vodka or rum, if using.

Don't let the heat and humidity keep you from enjoying this summer. Whether RVing at our resorts or relaxing at home, whip up one of these fruit slush recipes and enjoy a cold beverage outdoors!
