Cut Travels Costs with RV Vacations

Pack your bags, get ready to explore and save on RV travel costs! That's right, a study conducted by the RV Industry Association says the average cost per day for a four-person camping vacation was found to be significantly less than the average cost for a vacation with air fare and hotel stay. Find out why your next trip should be with your RV.

Bundled Savings

The study notes a family of four can save about 48 percent less by traveling with their lightweight RV compared to a vacation bundled with air fare and hotel. It's also about 34 percent less expensive than the average daily cost of a comparable four-person vacation by car and hotel combination.

In one example, the study looked at a 14-day vacation for a family of four traveling from Dallas, Texas to the Grand Canyon. The total cost for airfare, rental car and hotels was about $8,801. However, the same vacation traveling with a class C motorhome would cost $5,627, a 37% savings. Looking to create the same trip? Check out our affordable resorts in Arizona.

When you're flying, you have ticket sales, additional baggage fees and other expenses such as airport food or eating out more that are all at a per person charge. When you're traveling by air you also tend to rack up costs with a rental car that includes additional fees including gas, insurance, and parking.

Traveling by RV bundles your family's vacation needs. Instead of individual costs, you have shared costs for lodging, fuel, and even cooking. Preparing meals in the convenience of your RV kitchen can save your family additional costs instead of eating out for every meal.

Cost Comparison Traveling for Two

The study also looked at cost comparisons for two people traveling. In one instance, it compared a quick, three-day getaway from Detroit to Traverse City for airfare, car rental and hotel it was estimated to be around $1,898. However, for the same trip if traveling with an RV it was estimated to cost $1,001 – with a 47% cost savings. Interested in planning a similar trip?
