In our last blog we told you about how great the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix was here in Austin, TX. Well today, I want to tell you about how you can have your own F1/vacation park model home right here in Austin, TX for as little as $50,000, completely setup with all the amenities and central air conditioning!
First, let me answer your #1 question, "Why would I want a vacation home in Austin?" Now I'm going to try and keep this answer fairly short but it is going to be hard. Here are some of the reasons why the #1 city in the US to live in is Austin!

Kiplinger- 10 Best Cities for the Next Decade #1 out of 10

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point, Austin is a great place to live and there truly is something for everyone here. Do you like movies? We have the #1 rated movie house in the country here, The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. There you can watch a movie plus have drinks and food delivered to your seat. They have special screenings where you can sing along with the show or sometimes they give everyone "cap" guns for those "shoot'em" up movies! Do you like music? How about SXSW (South by Southwest) music festival where hundreds of bands from all over the world play downtown and at Auditorium Shores or the Austin City Limits Festival which is going to be held on 2 weekends this year so more people can enjoy more music. New Orleans may have Mardi Gras but we have 6th Street. The city closes 6th St. to traffic every Saturday night making it easy to go bar hopping from music venue to music venue and really, "what happens on 6th Street should stay on 6th Street!"
Are you outdoorsy? We have more golf courses, hike and bike trails and public parks than any other city of our size in the US, perfect for enjoying our average 300 days of sunshine. Rent a canoe and paddle along Lady Bird Lake with the city skyline next to you!
Of course there is the Circuit of the Americas here, 10 miles from our park, which is going to be home to the United States Formula 1 Grand Prix for the next 10 years! They also have planned a Moto GP motorcycle race, Australian V8 Supercars, Grand Am Series and the FIA World Endurance and the American LeMans series. Oh yeah, rumors are circulating about a NASCAR road race in the future!
Now that we have your attention, Austin Lone Star Sun RV Resort has a limited number of park model sites available for park model homes. Our Athens Park homes are 399 square feet and they are treated as a Recreational Vehicle (no real estate taxes) because of their size and structure, they are built on a steel frame and can be moved if necessary. Of course the only time they are moved is when they are brought to the park and then "tied down", with a small deck being built around them. My wife and I used to be full time RV'ers until we took over as managers here, so we know what it is like living in an RV. We bought our own park model home 3 years ago and it was the first one here at Austin Lone Star. It is like "night and day" between living in an RV and living in a park home. We have regular plumbing, no holding tanks, a full size refrigerator and oven and a dish washer, halleahlua! We have central A/C and a 100 gallon propane tank that will last almost a year. Our electric bill during the summer months when it was regularly 100 degrees here was around $70.00 per month. They usually come with one bedroom but you can get a small loft for grandchildren, extra sleeping or just storage. We have no complaints about our park model and are very, very satisfied with it.
As for the park itself, it has been here for 40 years and used to be privately owned. Sun RV Resorts purchased the park in 2007 and has been upgrading it every year; I know this because my wife and I have been here since 2007 and as managers the past three years. We have a pool that is heated 10 months out of the year, an exercise room that is available 24 hours a day, laundry, pet park and a pavilion with grills for your use. We are a small RV park with only 158 sites and only 13 designated for park homes, four of which already have park homes on them. If you are looking for a second home where you can be close to all the action of Austin, then this Texas RV Park is the place to be!
