Calling all Sun Outdoors anglers! 🚍 The wait is over. On May 1st, the Atlantic Grouper season officially reopens, and our neighbors at Hawks Cay Resort (just a few miles up the road!) are throwing the biggest dockside bash in the Keys.
Whether you’re taking your own boat out or just want to see the "monsters" come across the scales, this is a must-do event for anyone staying at Marathon this weekend. ⚓🌊
🗓️ Friday, May 1: The "Big Day" Kickoff
Watch the Weigh-In: Head over to the Hawks Cay Marina to see the fleet return with the first legal Groupers of 2026! 🚤🦞
Marina Promenade Party (5:00 PM – 9:00 PM): Live music by SWITCH ft. Ana, local vendors, and cold cocktails right on the water. 🎸🍹
Hook & Cook (5:00 PM – 10:00 PM): If you went out and caught your limit, bring your fillets to Angler & Ale. They’ll cook your catch for you while you enjoy the marina views! 🍽️🔥
Captains’ Drink Contest (7:00 PM): Cheer on the local charter captains as they compete for the best dockside cocktail. 🍹🏆

Distance: ~2 miles (Approx. 5-minute drive north on US-1). 🚗
Boat Access: If you're launching from Sun Outdoors, you can boat over to the Hawks Cay Marina! (Call ahead for transient slip availability: 305-743-7000). 🛥️
Admission: Marina Promenade and Friday's celebration are FREE and open to the public! 🎟️✅
