The area around Sun Retreats Silver Lake is filled with attractions, especially outdoors. Perhaps most famous is Silver Lake State Park. This gorgeous area along Lake Michigan has more than four miles of shoreline and famous sand dunes, which are the only dunes open to off-road vehicles east of the Mississippi River. More interested in hitting the waves than the sand? Pop by Wave Club Water Sports, where you can rent all the water equipment you want. You can also bring your own gear, such as paddleboards, kayaks, and snorkels.
Don't forget to day trip to the charming town of Ludington. It's worth the short trek to visit AJ's Family Fun Center, which has bumper boats, mini golf, and arcade games. You can also pop by Amber Elk Ranch to see majestic wildlife up close. And before you leave Ludington, grab a cone at the House of Flavors, Michigan's largest ice cream manufacturer.
