Celebrate the Fort Cooper Bluegrass Festival

Celebrate the Fort Cooper Bluegrass Festival

A bluegrass festival is an event that every individual should strive to experience at least once in their lifetime. Though Tennessee and Kentucky are famous for this lively, upbeat genre of folk music, you don't have to head for the hills to enjoy the best of bluegrass.

Venture down to the unassuming town of Inverness on Florida's Nature Coast, just 30 minute east of Sun Retreats Homosassa River, and you'll discover the Bluegrass Festival at Fort Cooper State Park, home to some of the finest guitar and banjo picking in the American South. Festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, and music, featuring the band Pasture Prime, starts at 11 a.m. Additional bands scheduled to perform include Backwater Bluegrass, The Baileys, and Still House Shakers. The Possums will round out the day at 4 p.m. with a finale that's sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Food vendors will serve up comfort food and festival classics including pulled pork sandwiches, Philly cheese steaks, and funnel cakes. Bring a lawn chair to sit and enjoy the music, but please remember that coolers and alcohol are not allowed.

Sun Retreats Homosassa River

Sun Retreats Homosassa River provides a gorgeous getaway surrounded by lush forests native to Florida with over 220 shaded RV sites. Amenities range from billiards, shuffleboard, and horseshoes in a friendly atmosphere that regularly features planned activities like bingo, potluck dinners, and karaoke nights.

Enjoy a refreshing dip in our sparkling swimming pool, or relax at a poolside picnic table with your favorite book. Bringing the whole gang? Our rally-friendly resort includes a sizable clubhouse with a partial kitchen, a band area, and plenty of space for events.

Right next to our resort is the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, a tropical retreat that boasts native Florida wildlife like manatees, alligators, black bears, and river otters. Get up-close and personal with the famous West Indian manatees, or enjoy a scenic stroll through the parks hiking trails.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to witness a bluegrass festival for an afternoon of fun and excitement. Plan your stay today at Sun Retreats Homosassa River and ask if you can save 20% with our First Time Visitor special!
